A park ranger rides the final stretch of path of a noncompetitive, five-mile social run held Saturday morning in Saguaro National Park. The run was part of a series of events over the weekend meant to increase togetherness in the community and commemorate the anniversary of the shooting of Jan. 8, 2011.

About The New York Times Student Journalism Institute
During the Institute, students are working journalists supervised by reporters and editors from The New York Times and The Boston Globe. Opportunities for students include reporting, copy editing, photography, Web production, print and Web design, and video journalism.
